5 things you might not know about GPS

5 things you might not know about GPS

Here are five things you might not have known about GPS, shared on GPSreview.net

1. The official name for GPS when it was developed by the Department of Defense was NAVSTAR.

2. The first GPS satellite was launched in 1978.

3. While it takes 24 satellites to make the satellite constellation, there are more than 24 GPS satellites in orbit doing their job. Some are taken in and out of rotation for software maintenance and new satellites are being launched with new capabilities.

4. The GPS satellites orbit at 12,000 miles above earth traveling at 7,000 miles per hour.

5. Each satellite is only about 17 feet across and circles the earth twice per day.

Books and a new geoteaming program, available NOW on eBay!

Well, looks like my event was a bust, although it generated a huge amount of traffic (over 300 hits to the page!), but my book offer was a hit!

So, I'm hooked on selling on eBay now, check out the eBay offers of the week!

A 1/2 price event for 12 people, trust me and my director of sales, you will NOT see or hear these prices anywhere else EXCEPT eBay!

Check out our favorite Advisor's, Dr. Simon Priest, book, "101 of the best Corporate Team-Building Activities". This is one of our bibles of experiential programming and it should be in your library today!

Also, Simon, Mike and Lee have teamed together to produce the authorative book on facilitation. This team of 3 takes the hard to learn art of facilitation and break it down into 9 simple steps. If you run meetings or facilitate teams, this book is a MUST READ!

If you read this post and the auctions are over, you can always find our latest eBay offerings by clicking here!

WiFi Should Be FREE Like Water

I just returned from a road trip in Floriday and I'm in my favorite deli, Cranium's. I want to reward the hell out of these people because they do things right!

Awesome food, huge tea/drink selection, incredible collectibles (my star trek and star wars friends absolutely rave about this place), it's 3 minutes from my house and most important to me, FREE WIFI!

The more I think about it, the more I seeth that even the Four Seasons Florida charged me $10 for 25 minutes of WiFi access (OK, it was until midnight, but I only stayed for 25 minutes).

There is a town in Florida where the city government passed and implemented an ordinance that provided free WiFi throughout their downtown. I say we DO THAT FOR SEATTLE!

I know there will be powerful lobbying from those who make money from it, yet I think it's now a perfect civil service that will make Seattle one of the most powerful HotSpots in the world.

Good thing I'm on the Chamber, I think I finally have something I feel worth fighting for, any ideas on how to get a program like this implemented?

Anyways, if you're in the area, make sure to visit Cranium's and say hi to the owner and let them know "The SpoonBender" sent you (inside joke with owner).

Use Yahoo! To Find WiFi When You're On The Road!!!

With the theme "Technology as a team member", WiFi is definitely one of my newest sought after team members when I'm on the road. Today I'm in Ft. Lauderdale for my first time ever and it was just too frustrating to plug into a PHONE line (how quaint!) and dial in.

So I remembered that on Yahoo! Mobile, they have a new WiFi locator which can help you find WiFi hotspots near whereever you are.

I entered my hotel's address and voila! I found that a FREE hotspot was .7 miles from my hotel, close enough for a walk while my teammates drive to lay out a new GeoTeaming course! Life is good and very good, and wifi is...
